Does anybody know how to stop the chooks laying where they are. There are two nesting boxes completly devoid of eggs but plenty over in the corner where I have to climb over two perches to get them!

Any idea will be welcome.

Don't think there is ryhme or reason with them....maybe put fake eggs or golf balls into the spot you do want them to lay........mine lay all over the place unless they are cooped up and even then they seem to hold the eggs in until let out? Makes NO sense to me either !

Put fake eggs/golf balls in and a curtain on the front to darken it. 2/3rd down and cut it in about 2" stripes, pull up a couple of the strips until they get the hang of it. Then put something in the corners of the coop like a water a feeder the food bucket whatever will make it less desirable to lay there.

What worked for us: nice dark private nest boxes with a fake (wooden) egg in each; periodically pick up the hens and put them in the nest box so they can see what its all about. Only one chicken began laying in the coop corner; we put a watering can in her chosen spot, and showed her the real nest boxes a couple times, and then she started laying in them!
Good luck-
