Hello everyone,
This morning I went out to the coop and found one of my Light Brahmas, Galoshes, lying on the floor of the coop. She is lying on her left side (see pictures) - presumably to take pressure off her right leg. When she saw me, she hobbled a few steps towards the chicken door to their pen outside but then she sat down and rolled over onto her left side again. FYI I was out with the chickens yesterday a lot and I didn't notice anything abnormal with her. She is on the skinny side which worries me. I brought her inside and I felt around her leg and I can't find anything obviously broken or wrong. There is one place that is slightly red but no other obvious injury. I can get her to stand, but when she does so her right foot turns inward some. I gave her some Vitamin B12 for pain and a half tablet of calcium citrate. Her abdomen feels tense (not hard like cancer) and slightly baloonish. I am not sure if this is part of the problem or not. I got her to eat some raw egg and quite a bit of cooked egg. I also got her to drink a bit of sugar water. She normally has a super good appetite but stopped eating her raw egg after a few bites and didn't finish all of her cooked egg. I've really never seen this type of issue before in one of my hens... so I'm really not sure what it is at all. She also had a watery- yellow colored poop. I am not sure if this is related to the issue or a product of not eating much. Pictures of her are below. Please help!!
