So i have 2 shamo hens which are famous for going broody, but to be honest i was not expecting them to get broody together !
2 weeks ago i built 3 nesting boxes in the coop as the hens were laying in the coop all over the place.
Since the last 2-3 days one shamo hen has decided that she must sit in one of the nesting boxes and is flaring up her feathers and pecking at me whenever i try to move her. I am still thinking about whether i should put some hatching eggs under her, however i have noticed in the last 2 days the other shamo has now started to try and get into the same nesting box and has started to sit near it, mimicking the flaring and clucking of the other hen.
What would be the best approach ? Put 3 eggs under each hen ? Or try and break one (Dog crate method) and keep the other broody ?
Also what happens if I just leave the 2 hens as they are and not give them any eggs? Will they get bored after a few days or stay in this broody state indefinitely? Is there any drawback to leave them as they are ?
