I have a hen that is in the nesting box right now, she isn't doing the typical broody hen things like cluck and puff out her feathers, but she has been on the nest all day yesterday and all do today. I put fake eggs next to her and she pulled them under her, is there something wrong with her?

She is most likely broody. Is she letting you pet her and reach under her? You can try picking her up and take her out to see if she goes back in there.

Yes she lets me pet her and reach under her, I tried that last night and she when right back into her nest spot, I didn't know if she was going to be broody so she is on fake eggs

Do you have fertile eggs for her to hatch or plan to?? If not, you want to break her. "Incubating" plastic eggs or pine shavings has no purpose and is hard on the hen. They won't sit for 21 days (*) and then give up when nothing hatches.

* not eating or drinking as a hen sitting on incubating eggs will

My girl hawk just turned 1 year in April and has been broody 2x. She is very calm with me. I can pet her and reach under her to collect eggs. The only time she has ever acted out was once her eggs hatched and another chicken came into the coop.

I have a bantam Cochin that I just broke (on accident) she had been broody too long. I had tried taking her off the nest repeatedly and she even hatched chicks out. But she was broody for 8-9 weeks so I bought her a few chicks. I moved her to a new pen that’s safer for the chicks and she snapped out of it.
