My Rhode Island Red may have Bumblefoot since she refuses to walk on her foot, but since there is no scab there yet, can I try treating it now?

Is the foot puffy? If you look at some of the pictures of bumble foot in the Learning Center, you can compare. I thought one of my hens had bumble foot. She actually ended up having just a sprained ankle. If she is a free-range hen, don't let her outside for a couple of days. You should also keep her away from too much moving around. I will post more info. on bumble foot if I find any!

What did your hen do? Did it avoid walking n that foot and not moving around that much? I have found info on what to do, but I'd still like to know what you did for your hen! that would be a huge help!

I am currently treating a pullet with bumble foot but she walks around fine, I noticed pink swelling in between toes first off and it was pretty significant, but never hindered her from walking. If theres no black scab that may not be the issue....maybe she injured her leg?

Well, she held up her foot and barely put it on the ground. She couldn't keep up with her buddies so she would just sit under a tree or bush in the shade and slept when I put them out. Instead of roosting, she would sleep in the nesting boxes. Eventually, she stopped limping and joins her buddies, but still isn't as much of a fast runner as the other hens I have.
If she isn't yet, I am sure your hen will get better, I hope it is just a sprained ankle!
Also, check the bottom of her foot and her "claws" for a tear, scratch, or a thorn!

I hope she gets better soon!
