I have had a small flock of 6 chickens (mixed breed) and one duck. I recently wanted to add more to my flock and hatch some of my own. I had a chick given to me from a local feed store that needed assistance (runt). This chick has done well and maturing nicely. Due to it being an only chick I wanted to get her a pal around the same age so she wasn't alone. I went to our local chicken swap and picked up a friend for her around the same age. I have recently been informed by the state AG dept that our new hen may be infected to the MG disease. All our state chicken swaps have been temp closed down. The state will be coming to test my chicks in two weeks. here is my problem. I have had these two in a separate cage outside for about three weeks the are not near my coop with the other chickens, nor have they been loose near the others. Ive been told I could have contaminated them by passing the problem on my person. I will have my other chickens tested also. but I have 5 week old baby quail and 1 chick in the same brooding box that my problem two were in. I have had other chicks hatch since then also( in another brooding box). and many in the incubator.I understand that all my birds may be at risk. so I guess my questions is: the eggs I have in the incubator that I have received from tested flocks are also sharing the incubator with eggs from my own flock. does this mean all the eggs could be contaminated or just the ones from my flock? I move the eggs out of the incubater with the turner into another hatching incubator before hatch. I am so very concerned for all my birds including eggs. I do wash hands and keep all cages/coops very clean.I am need of advise to help prevent more contamination or save my flock. I am truly hoping all tests are negative or worse case I only loose the two that have been exposed from the chicken swaps. any advise is more than welcome we really enjoy having them and my children are very attatched and are learning great skills with raising them. I hate to devastate the entire family.
