possible coop design???

hello everyone. i am building a coop. and i bought about 10 2x4's and i plan on making a pen that is an L shape. i plan on putting chicken wire around the entire thing including the bottom and i am going to submerge the wiring underneath the dirt. i will be housing a silkie chicken and a pekin duck together in the same pen. (they are the only birds i have). what can you suggest that i should put in the pen to satisfy both of their needs??? thanks for your help in advance!!!!!!

if you want to keep them in chicken wire is fine. if you want to keep predators out you gotta use galvanized or something a lot stronger than chicken wire.

Chicken wire is only good for keeping chickens IN!! It will not keep predators OUT!! You need to use hardware cloth to keep out predators!!

Not certain what type of housing / pen you are considering. A small 'tractor' might be a good option with only two birds, especially if you can put the tractor in a garage or shed overnight.

i dont have raccoons around me or foxes or mountain lions or anything crazy like that lol. prolly the main concern is cats haha. so i have to use that galvanized stuff?
