I have a white leghorn hen that I just found this morning with a swollen abdomen. She was squatting like she was trying to poop but just standing like that. I picked her up and her belly is very swollen. At that point she was still running away from me no problem. I brought her in the house and soaked her in warm water for almost 45 minutes, changing the water whenever it got cool. While she was in there I used some vaseline to try and loosen her up and put a gloved finger in the vent to feel for an egg. I couldn't feel anything solid. I also tried injecting some warm water into the vent (I've done it before with another hen and it helped dislodge the impaction) but I feel like this girl has become more lethargic and (possibly) more swollen over the past few hours. She is currently laying in a box on some towels in the house. I don't know what else to do! She is maybe 4 years old if that affects anything. I will appreciate any help. I'm worried for her :(

I am so sorry! I dealt with my first egg-bound hen last month. It sounds like you are doing everything you can. I happened to have a pet heating pad, and my hen relaxed a bit with some heat. If you don't have one, maybe some warm towels from the dryer. I hope everything works out okay.
