I've been wondering why all of my black australorps have quit laying. I have one EE in with the marans and australorps so I can hatch olive eggers and yesterday I noticed her looking into the nests and jumping in them even after she had laid her egg. There was an australorp sitting on a nest but no pink eggs later when I went to check.... I wonder if this EE just has a craving for pink eggs or would the shells from the blue or dark brown eggs be harder to break and she's learnt that the pink ones are easier? I'm going to toss her out now if she's laid her egg and see if I get any australorp ones today. If I do then she's gone!
Yep, with the EE gone out of the coop I had 2/4 eggs from the australorps. Has anyone else ever had a choosy egg eater?
