I bought six pullets nearly 3 weeks ago, ages 9 weeks (maran) and 11 weeks (orpingtons). I gave them some time then combined the two pens last week. It seemed to go well with only minor skirmishes. Then one bird developed a runny eye. She is isolated. The eye still runs. She has no apparent injury. There are no other symptoms-discharge, noises, food and drink consumption, stools, etc, except her size. The other orps are nearly twice her size and the marans have gotten bigger than her.

I have no idea what is going on or how to help her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My regular vet retired and the new kid does not treat chickens.

Thank you all.

Sorry. This is her eye. She has started rubbing it against me and scratching at it

The bubbles can be a sign of mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG,) which is a chronic respiratory disease. It can stunt her growth and prevent her reaching her potential. Have you heard any sneezing or noisy breathing? Can you try to get some Tylan50 , Tylosin, or other antibiotics for treatment of MG? Here is some reading about MG:

Tylosin can be found online:

Thank you. She is not making any unusual sounds or behaving any differently. She just is not the same as her sisters. I will order meds today and see if they help.
In your opinion, should the other birds be treated as well despite no signs of illness?
I got my first hens over 20 years ago yet do not have much experience with illness. Guess my luck may have run out.
Thank you for your help.
