We’re running tests currently but unsure what to do. The first vet said to separate so we quarantined her the last 5 days but the other vet said not to separate her from her flock. I’m honestly not sure the right approach here.
They think mareks is low on the list of possibilities but still on it unless ruled out by blood test.
The problem is the test won’t even come back until next Wednesday-Friday.

Symptoms?
Sporadic episodes where she will look dizzy and stumble on her right side and leg seems to go limp(unable to walk) and intentional tremors in her head when trying to eat a treat.
Happened twice now 3 days apart and she bounces back within and hour or two and starts running/walking/eating normally again.

Any suggestions on separation from the flock?

I personally would separate from the flock until you know what is going on with her. Sorry you have to go through this, it is a tough place to be.:hugs

What I don't know about chicken illness and injury would fill books - and does.

Overo Mare, Eggcessive, Wyorp Rock and another whose name is escaping me right now, all MUCH more qualified to opine.

That said, "once Mareks, always Mareks". Its too late for separation to do any good. If its on your property, its basically on your property forever. Either your management of your flock has to change going forward to account for Marek's presence, or you destroy the whole flock and abandon the ground for at least a year before starting over.

Or so I understand it.

Of course, if it isn't Marek's, and it hasn't already spread to a currently asymptomatic bird, separation may prevent further spread. Or not, depending on how the [whatever] spreads...

Thank you! I’m just worried about keeping her away by the time the results come back (it will be 2+ weeks away from everyone) the vet is also unsure what’s going on which is scarier.
