I just got my chicks back in March and these are the first I’ve ever owned. I noticed about a month after putting them outside on their own some started losing feathers around their vent and up their belly but not all of them were. I just figured the rooster was pecking at them. This went on for another month or so and nothing changed so i figured it might be mites. I went out one night to check to see if I could find any crawling around and I couldn’t. I put down some dust and sprayed the chickens with some of the spray from tractor supply(I can’t remember the name right now) nothing seems to change. And I STILL haven’t seen any mites.....but now my pups seem to be itching more and more. I’ll try to attach some pics for y’all to look at.

Have you checked for lice? They're different to mites as they live on the chickens instead of the coop, there's a few different types

I haven’t seen anything on either the chickens or the coop. I work night so I get home when it’s still dark out and I’ve checked every morning for a couple weeks and haven’t seen anything. I’ve already treated the chicks and coop so hopefully I’ll be seeing some improvements

Today was the 7th day so I retreated everything best I could. I’m feeding layer crumble with grit on the side

Wood ash in their sand/dust baths kills mites lice fleas and ticks..why do people insist on wasting money on dangerous chemicals?
