Okay, so I have figured out there is a mouse in our coup. One of my chickens is broody and sitting on eggs. Her eggs started hatching today. I know I need to get rid of the mouse but, I am concerned. Will a mouse hurt baby chicks. Thanks for the help.

From what I have seen out of our chickens, it's the other way around. The chickens will hurt the mouse if they can catch it.

So they don't even mess with the babies. I hope so, I wouldn't want it to hurt the babies.

Mice have never been a problem for us in terms of chick safety. Rats, on the other hand, are a four-star disaster. Be very sure you don't have a rat hanging around as well!

I read a story on this board where a lady walked into her coop to feed the chickens, saw a mouse in the feed bag, grabbed it by the tail and flung it on the floor in fear. By the time she realized what she had just done, her chickens had EATEN IT. lol

You have nothing to worry about unless you would have a ton of mice. The mother hen will peck the mouse if it tries to hurt her or her

eggs. Chickens actually will eat mice if they catch them.
