How old is your female? She could be having a false pregnancy. If she is out of a slow- growing blood- line, her body might be still adjusting, especially if she had her first heat late(one or two years). Good luck, and if she does have puppies this time, please post pics!

she is 2, She is starting to produce milk and I believe her stomach is beggining to change now. She already gained 2 lbs, Thats more then a new born pupppy..

Could be she's pregnant; could be a false pregnancy. The only way to confirm is to have her vet checked.

agreed. The only way to know 100% is to do an ultrasound or xray to confirm that puppies are there. You can't get an exact count but you will have a ball park idea of how many puppies to expect. It helps with deciding if she is done having puppies or if she needs to go to the vet because there might be a pup stuck.

All the things you describe -weight gain, producing milk, even nesting behavior - can occur with a false pregnancy. Some dogs will even go into "labor" and attempt to nurse toys.

Two lbs is nothing...you have to also take into consideration milk, uterine growth, placenta, amniotic fluid, etc.

I had to look at the pictures of "mom" Yes, on a dog that size 2 lbs is nothing. Maybe if she has a single pup, but as far along as she is she should have gained much more weight.

Seriously, get an xray. That is the only way to know for sure. If your vet won't do one, find a dr who will.

definitely get her to the vet to get some xrays so you know if there ARE pups.

One of the biggest dangers of small dad/larger mom is that, if the pups take after dad, they might not be big enough to trigger strong contractions to push them out. If that happens, then the pups will die inside and likely Mom as well. All outward signs would just be that she had a false pregnancy.

Not to sound harsh, but this is the type of things that need to be studied BEFORE you ever decide to breed. I understand the idea of wanting "just one litter" but not doing your homework first is very dangerous to the dog. Are either of them mixed? And if so, do you know what breeds exactly? Another potential problem would be a large dog in either family tree = large pup that mom would be unable to deliver.

I understand what you mean. I did read up before breeding I just never thought to read on that I guess. I Know that my girl outgrew the rest of her family tree (she is a cockapoo) and that the dad is a pure bred akc yorkie so too big is definately not a Problem. Thanks you guys she is now producing milk and stomach is growing more. I will try to get her into the vet soon :)
