Possible Roo?

Still kind of hard to see, just wanted to get everyone's opinion. I just am not sure what to call him/her lol Even though you can't see it in the picture, his/her waddle is bigger than all the other chicks and is already turning red. He is a little smaller bodied than the BOs but I am thinking it is because he/she is a different breed.

I had a few last year that I thought were going to be roosters because of this, but they turned out to be very good laying hens.

Comb development like this can be a pretty good indicator when you're looking at a bunch of birds of the same breed (the roosters definitely get them faster), but with a bunch of mixed breed chicks, it's really tough to tell.


If it's turning red already though - you've probably got a boy.

If their under a month old and the comb is already turning red you probably won't be getting many eggs from that one.

They are 4 weeks but a little over 3 weeks at the time of the picture
