Possible scaly leg mites, or something else?

It might just be my imagination, but it looks kind of like her legs are slighlty swollen. You might not be able to see it but the scales on one of her legs are starting to peel up a bit. I saved her and a bunch of other bantams from horendous conditions and they all have lice and stuff like that, so I wouldn't be surprised if she had them. She looks almost exactly like a beloved pet chicken of mine that my dogs ate while I was at school, so I would be heart broken if I couldn't help her. I have no expierience with these mites so, if she does in fact have them, I don't know what to do for her. Whatever it is, it needs to be something very inexpensive like a home remedy or something. Any diagnosis and/or remedy would be much appreciated!

Yes - scaly leg mites - you can treat at home by applying vaseline to the legs, up to the area where her feathers start, keep this up! It can take UP TO 8 weeks for the leg mites to go - I would suggest treating her legs daily - the scales often slough off to leave perfect new scales, you may also want to look at her head - often scaly leg mites can affect the head area too - apply vaseline to her head if she shows signs of baldness. Treat any others you have too as this will also affect them.

Good luck

She's so cute. If you think it might be mites twice a day for week cover her legs with oil. Olive oil if you wanna spend a little more money. Haha, but I just used canola oil. Soon you should see that new scales are growing... The legs will look pink untill the new scales grow in. Hipe this helps. It takes commitment. Pls reply soon on how it is working :)

Will vegetable oil work? Most of the other rescues have feathers on their legs; will this affect any treatment I try to give them? I'm going to be having no life for awhile because I'm rescuing more from that same place in a few days.

It's a good thing I like chicken's.

Vegi oils will work.. I would suggest you wait and do them all at once for a week because they can spread.., also check there head and face sometimes mites go up there too
