Possible scaly mites?

Today I was looking at some of my chickens and I noticed something. One of them didn't have smooth leg skin. It was very thick and literally crusty. I think it is for scaly leg mites. I couldn't get a clear picture but I will post pictures tomorrow. Now, I don't know if it actually is that, but IF it is, then what to do? I know what warm water and petroleum jelly helps, but any other information would be appreciated. Thank you~♥

Even if it's not SLM, it won't hurt the bird to apply a little vaseline to the legs.
