Possibly a sick chick!

Sorry to bother you all again! I have a question as to whether I should continue to treat their water with Corid and if so, for how long? I actually stopped several days ago, but was wondering if I should continue longer, treat periodically or do nothing unless I notice something going on with my chicks.

Thank you!

Is the chick having runny poops? At this age it might be possible coccidiosis, but hard to know for sure. Do you have any Poultry NutriDrench, Gatorade, or electrolytes? Those could give a boost. If coccidiosis is suspected, that is treated with Corid in the water. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid in each Gallon of water for 5-7 days. Symptoms of coccidiosis are sleepiness, standing around hunched or puffed up, not esting, runny poops, and sometimes blood in poop.
Thank you for this info. My 11 chicks will be 5 weeks old on Monday… one of them, an Azure Egger female named “Wisha” is acting not like herself. Hunched up. Uninterested in black soldier fly larvae, or really any other food. She just pecks at things around her randomly. Been mostly napping all day with her eyes closed.
Today is the second day they’ve been outside to their coop all day, as a field trip. I do have some native soil with wood ash & DE in their brooder box. But today was the first time I noticed her being disinterested in food, especially treats. She also seems to be drinking a lot of water. More than usual.
I’m guessing it’s cocci, so I just gave them all Corid water & I needed the dosage, so thank you!
I saw her drink some as soon as I put it down, so I’m praying that will help her. 🙏🏻
I do very much appreciate this community for things like this. So good to have support & experience available here.

Blessings,
Crystal

If she does not drink enough, encourage her to drink or drop it a little at a time on the edge of her beak. You can add a little Corid water to some food in a bowl as well.
Thank you! I’ll be monitoring her for sure.
But she’s doing better just two hours after I saw her drink the treated water. She came out into the run & was foraging for cover crop greens with the rest of the chicks. That was just before sundown, when I bring them in until they’re able to roost in the coop outside. 🙏🏻 Wonderful!
