I recently got a pair of golden Polish, and while I know they're already hard of seeing because of their poofs, I am beginning to worry the rooster is blind.
They're only six months old. When I got them their tail feathers had been plucked due to over crowding at their previous homes. At first I thought the rooster was just more stressed then the hen and the other chickens we got with the pair.
After watching him closely, he often times is hiding in corners. He doesn't react much to movement as he does touch, or sound. Sound is a big one.
If one of the other birds next to him flaps their wings he quick jumps and runs away. If I open the door to my coop which slightly creaks, he does the same thing. He does drink and eat like the rest.
The hen has a bigger crest on her head but has learned to turn her head to see. The male, I can see his eyes, his poof, its not as big as the females.
I have never dealt with problems like this. Does it sound like he is blind or something else?
