Please help. Not sure what’s going on with this little one. I’ve caught him/her eating with the rest about twice but besides those times always lays alone under the plate. Seems really low energy mostly though, I feel like it’s on its way out. I feed them gamebird starter by Manna Pro 24%, they get plain water and water with acv off and on because two had pasty butt. I just gave it some sugar water but it didn’t even pep up for a minute! This would be the 4th! Though those were immediately upon arrival. Really upsetting.. some pics of the situation

I would not put ACV in their water. It does not cure pasty butt. It is harmful at high temperatures and brooder temperatures are high. It can interfere with the proper absorption of calcium.

Sometimes keets simply fail to thrive. Have you tried giving them Corid? You may want to just in case.

I feed my keets a 28% protein turkey or game bird starter and then when they are ready for the next step they get a 24% protein turkey or game bird grower.

These were shipped keets? How long ago did they arrive? I use shavings for chicks but. It keets, because they seem to eat bedding and get impacted easily. Honestly, I find the keet bedding a real challenge as they scratch up and eat puppy pads too. I’m hoping to make some wire bottoms for the brooder this year. Do you have Nutridrench that you can add to a waterer or very carefully syringe to the sick one? I hope your keet makes it!

Ugh. I think I’m losing him. Yes, I ordered them via The Chicken Outfitter. He’s still hanging on. I don’t have nutridrench, it was supposed to be here two days ago but amazon shipping is all over the place because of the pandemic. I did mix b complex with warm water and used a syringe to feed him. He just kept throwing his head back. I’ve now separated him but it seems like he’s shutting down... I’m so upset!!!!

I’m so sorry - so sad to watch the sick ones in distress! Shipping can be hard on them. How’s it doing?

I lost him. Then his buddy. My remaining 6 do seem strong as can be and move as a pack. They are also becoming more friendly! And seem excited to see me. One last question, this morning one Keet got stuck behind the plate and the cage, for about five minutes! I got him out as soon as he started screaming. I did notice once he screamed the rest ran out from under the heating plate. None of them have gone under since!!! I did elevate the front two legs a little bit so it would be a little more open. And moved it to a different area in case they were“scared” of it. And they still won’t go under! But are huddled like they are cold, but not TOO huddled.. could be just cuddling I DONT EVEN KNOW AT THIS POINT. All I know is I don’t want to lose anymore! Is it normal to branch out from under plate as they get a little older if it’s warm? Under the plate is 95 degrees, the rest of brooder is 75/80. If they are traumatized from their buddy getting stuck, how do I un traumatize them?! I swear I thought my dobermans were mental but Guineas are a whole other ball game

I’m so sorry you are having so many issues with them! I have a very sweet, knucklehead Doberman too (see pic)! I think that my guineas are much more neurotic than the Doberman, but my girl was good practice to dealing with guineas! As for your current conundrum, I’d guess that you’ve accidentally associated the brooder plate with being a scary danger zone. Can you raise the plate so it’s even more open, then temporarily add a light bulb or other source of heat until they get used to the plate again? Maybe scatter some feed under the plate to encourage them to check it out again?

Omg SO cute!!! Mine are black. They’re awesome dogs. I have a space heater blasting into there but definitely need to get this corrected before night time. I put dried worm under it but they still won’t go near. Would it make sense to raise the plate more and put it over where they are constantly huddling?
