possibly egg bound also found shell-less egg 3 weeks after dog attack

thanks for all the help guys.... I'm sad to say she didn't make it thru the night. :-( she was a great little chicken with a big personality... I just wish I could have helped her poor girl

I've been Following your thread, but being new to chickens myself didnt have much to offer....
I'm so sorry to hear this, sorry for your loss!!
Its sad making. Rue was my favorite girl. (Shes the one in my icon picture thing)

We did all we could, based on the advice we got (which thank you ALL for your help and input!!) I am mostly irriated with my vet. I know they are busy, but with as much as we paid to get them in the first time, and she told us if there were any problems just to call and we could bring her right in.... yet when we called, they couldn't see her. I know they are busy, and I am grateful for having more time with her, but I SOOOO wasn't ready to lose her. When we called them to say we didn't need to go in anymore they just said "oh sorry... we will look into it.."

Needless to say, I've been keeping a careful eye on my other girls. I am now down to three...

We are about to move, so once we are settled in the new house I think we may get some chicks again... but at the same time, I'm hesitant. Its one thing to get chickens and plan on slaughtering them.... but... its a whole other thing to lose so many to an attack, and have several injured and think they are getting better to have this happen. (and we had a hard time intergrating the new girls with the original flock this year... and now we have 2 oldies and 1 younger one, and they are barely tolerating each other!)

I think I am just a big softie... lol
