Possibly egg bound? Not sure

So she’s been in the tub for about 15 minutes and she did poop once. That means she’s not egg bound right?
The only other thing is, a dog came in our yard today (a fence is going up this week) and one of the khakis was cornered, hard to tell which one. Found she just be in shock? Maybe she is the one who got cornered?
Just so you also know for future reference, depending on how they are egg bound they can still poop. Usually you give them a bath for 30 minutes or more. I tend towards 1-2 hours. Calcium gluconate is the best thing to for egg bound ducks. For a 23% solution: 0.2mL/ 1lb duck, 2 times a day. You can get it at TSC. But tums will work in a pinch if you have nothing else. You usually see results within 24 hours.

You would also want to continue to treat the duck until it is no longer laying soft shelled eggs, the most likely cause of being egg bound.

Thank you! I’m going to pick some up and have it on hand just in case!

She is doing so well today. She wouldn’t eat or drink last night or this morning so I brought another khaki in and neither would eat. I brought them outside and she resumed eating and drinking right away. She does seem a little sore but otherwise she’s foraging with the other ducks

You've gotten great advice. But, just a reminder that whatever attacked her will be back. So make sure they are all secure and safe so that this doesn't happen again.
Yeah, what timing. We are having a fence put up this week… until then we are only letting them out to free range when we can be with them. They’ll hate it, but they won’t hate being safe.

Is she in a dark room? That will help with any kind of shock or stress she may be experiencing.

The wound will need to be cleaned treated and dressed. Bite wounds will get infected quickly if not cleaned properly, rinse it with either saline or 0.05% Chlorhexidine solution. That should be the first thing you do.
I think this is a predator attack -- the puncture wounds likely to be a bite from the dog

I agree with dark room and quiet for her care and also cleaning and treating the wounds. an alternative to chlorhexidine would be hydrogen peroxide which does not hurt and can flush dirt from inside the puncture wounds as it froths.

Dog bites are dirty -- but not actually as dirty as human bites. The wounds need to stay open and heal from the bottom up. I hope the wound didn't penetrate her abdominal cavity.

Poor duck: I hope she pulls through. I have a rescued pekin that has survived a raccoon attack. So take care of her and I hope for the best

:goodpost:

Yup, HP works
I hadn't mentioned it because it has been said that hydrogen peroxide kills the healthy flesh. I have used it on myself but for animals I usually will use the saline or Chlorhexidine before using the hydrogen peroxide.
