I have a female that has been laying for quite a while now and I saw her in the nesting box yesterday but no egg. Again today, saw her in the box but no egg. Went to pet her and noticed some clear liquid coming from her vent. She squats like she needs to lay an egg. Could she be egg bound?? What else could be wrong? What can I do to help her? Thanks in advance. :)

First up, I am sorry to hear that your hen may be having issues and sadly, I am not an expert at what ails chickens. My replying will hopefully bump up your post and catch the eye of someone more experienced.

However, in the meantime, there is a great article in the BYC learning centre regarding egg binding which may be of assistance:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/egg-binding-symptoms-treatment-and-prevention

In my limited experience, her symptoms could also be related to egg yolk peritonitis and here is a good article on that:

I hope you are able to sort this out for her and she recovers.

Regards
Teila
