I'm in Indian River County. It's hot as all get out already in May. The humidity is hard on my large males. I lived up in TN for 6 years and yes it gets hot but the humidity starts early here and drags on through most of the year. We have 2 seasons. My husband is born and raised in west Knoxville and it is far better up there than here in summer. I'm anxious to move my birds back up north and experience seasons again. Here it's death and cool season lol. That's it. 2 seasons. Heck even my quail are housed inside currently because of the weather. My females are miserable.I live on a farm in west Tn and have a fan cooled chicken house and lots of shade. It gets around upper 90’s in July up here, but is probably cooler than where you are. Where are you in FL?
I have a plan. Since he is my largest male.. I'm going to breed him to my females first before I sell him. I'm going to add those females to the flock and they should carry his genetics for large size. My pullets should be laying any time now. They are 20 weeks on Sunday. After their eggs get just a bit bigger I can hatch and sell him to you. He will do better up north. As long as you promise not to harm a feather on him. I really love this big boy. I want to see him father many chicks and his genetics spread far and wide.Let me know if you want to get rid of him.
He's so big. I really love this guy. Hate to see him go but for the sake of spreading the big boy genes it's worth it.Nice looking roo.
