I left some paper with very litle people food on top on the coop last night ... forgot .. next day something tore it aport

You can defeat oppossums and sometimes racoons even when they can get into coop by making roost beyond reach of such predators. Make roost at least 4 feet above ground and so varment can not climb up to it. Birds must stay on roost when pest is about under them. Also consider the hardware cloth as it will stop most of the predators that will fit through your existing fencing.

Cover all of the hole larger than 4 by 4 inches in hardware cloth or ply wood. Also set some traps and catch him.
