Oh! And that reminds me....when my husband's parents were in town they were with me when I bought my second batch of chicks.....my father in law thought it was the funniest thing that he went "cruising to pick up chicks" with me! :lau

It's a Silkie. They are beautiful and sweet little birds!

We've named her Miss Kitty, in honour of my Mother in Law, who is a very fun blonde named Kitty.
 
Bantam is a type/variety of chicken but not a breed....so lots of breeds are available in Bantam (and then there are some true Bantam breeds like my Sebright, and D'uccles.)

Your little one looks to me like a black mottled D'uccle...which also makes it a Bantam. Does that make sense? I'm still pretty new to this myself!

You are right. i can't be called a chicken expert :) but you know I have learned a lot from my fellow flockmates
