The Fjord's mane is really, really thick - and has a more course feel to it than other horse manes. It has a natural tendancy to want to grow straight up, but you trim it with scissors to get the look you see on Siggy. If you don't trim it, it is thick and luxorious and often falls on both sides of the neck.

Not all Fjord people trim manes - it can be an exercise in frustration and copious amounts of cursing can be involved

It's a personal choice.

Here's one more of him just because I love him so much!

While Zeke isn't a horse, he's still a great equine animal. She uses him for trail rides. Much more sure footed on hills and not a prone to spooking.

I knew I liked you more than just for your insightful poetry Opa. A Paso and a Mule!!!! you are one lucky person. I have only sold one horse in my 50 years of horse ownership and it was a Paso, and I kick myself daily for that mistake. My second dream equine for retirement riding is a Mule.

I would have never believed that I'd ever prefer mules over horses but now that my oldest son has gotten so involved with them I've found that mules have a lot going for them. Easier keepers, never founder, fewer health problems, less prone to spook, more sure footed. A good gaited mule just can't hardly be beat, especially for trail riding. One major downside it finding the proper saddle.
