I'm sad to say that my 5-year-old Isa Brown died today. She had a bad winter molt and was a little off for the past months, and barely ate the last 5 days. I thought I felt an egg down at the bottom of her body below her butt, so tried to gently massage it up to her butt last night and gave up. Then tried again this morning and when I applied too much pressure, she vomited a small amount of black liquid and died.

With a limited autopsy, I found what looks like 3 large egg yolks inside of her, all with the texture of a cooked egg yolk, which doesn't make sense. Her stomach was hard, and looked pretty normal I think. A vet tested her poop for parasites a couple of weeks ago and found "a normal level, not a lot".

Any commentary or insight regarding what I did and what you see would be greatly appreciated.
