Hello! My name is Danielle, I live in Florida, and along with my 1 remaining laying hen, I have 6 brand new babies! I grew up raising chickens with my parents in NH. Any ways, last week something got into the coop and killed Momma Chicken and Rooster, but not the other chicken. She layed me an egg the day after, but since then she is rolling her egg out of the box, down the ramp, and either eating it out there or just rolling it through the grate onto the ground! We've watched her roll the egg out twice, and today I came home to an eaten egg. Right now she is the only chicken in the coop. Could this be caused by stress from the killing of her other chicken friends? Or should I give her some oyster shells? Help!

She is probably depressed. I don't know why she is rolling her eggs out of the nest, but I do know that she needs some buddies.

Welcome to BYC!

She's probably stressed, they can do weird things when stressed.

When and how will you introduce her to the chicks?
