i just had to cull like all my chickens b/c of coryza now i have 2 vacant pens what do i do to get rid of the left over bacteria that might be in the pen??

Would bleach help? I know ammonia is toxic to chicks and chickens can get ammonia poisoning, so I don't know if you would want to use that. All I can think of is bleach and a good hosing down, but I've never had to clean a coop of bacteria.

The best way to take care of it is to let your coops and grounds stand empty for 3 to 4 months according to our state vet.

Bleach is probably not the best disinfectant. Oxine or vircon S or novalsan are better choices. Three weeks if you know it was coryza; other illnesses require longer times.

I've just had to do the same thing!

I've used Virkon with a power garden spray and intend to leave the coop empty for at least a month (i read this timing in my chicken health book).
