Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

It is not mold at all..It is healthy bacteria growing.

To keep that from happening as much..make sure your feed is covered in water. There should be an inch of water covering the feed. Stir 2x a day and add water when needed. A hand strainer works well for scooping out feed. If it is too wet after you scoop into bowls, add dry crumbles to the mixture to thicken it up just before service, or add grains etc.. The film is normal and healthy growth. It is the same bacteria that grows to make yogurt and cottage cheese.
Now I am thinking I was not using enough water. Need to round up my buckets and try again. I think I will wait for it too cool off a bit more first. They have a lot of bugs to catch in the mean time.

My orpie girl Boo Boo just laid her very first egg!

Dragon Lady,

They are the most difficult birds to photograph. As soon as they spot the camera, kept running under the trees. Finally I was able to catch them when they went in for the night, and had someone hold both. Their mother is over 3 yr. old and she was purchased as Ameraucana. She lays pretty blue eggs. The father of the twins was a Welsummer. Both girls are quite small; but, not bantams. A friend of mine is in love with the twins which I will give both girls to him as birthday present
