Well, like I said, I'm about 99% sure BlueBell is a she. My husband picked her out when she first hatched and said "we are keeping that chick," so I reckon we'll be keeping her either way...sorry Bill !!! She feathered in a lot quicker than most cockerels do and her feet are not as big as some of the cockerels in that hatch. I agree with Julie, I don't recall ever seeing lacing like that on a boy. I sure hope that Julie and I are correct in thinking that she is a she. LOL. I guess time will tell.

I am just looking at her body and feet, not the color. IF she turns out a he. I wouldn't be too bummed out.

This 3 month old splash Cockerel is my favorite splash boy. He is out of Charlie

This is my favorite blue out of same hatch. Fav for right now anyway.

This was their first time out and I stayed right with them. I saw a hawk fly over so I don't guess they will get out often.

Bama, that is a good point about BlueBell. Of the Orps I have of yours only the girls have that lacing. I need to post some pictures of them.

I had one that really worried me this last week. I didn't know what was wrong with her because she wasn't walking and her foot was hot.

I have had her isolated for about 6 days now and today she was standing up and limping around on her own. I am guessing that the fox that has been on the prowl chased her and she injured herself. Then she was too injured to get her fair share of feed.

She is gobbling down the feed today, and I am very relieved!

Can black have lacing? This girl does not look blue to me.

Kathy, I think that is just a very dark blue- my black girls have the green sheen to the black feathers, and Satin (Suede's darker blue girl) is almost as dark as the girl in your picture, but without the hi-lights. Your girl is STUNNING, by the way. I love those dark blues!
