Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Bella's looking a bit sad on her eggs, I am going to give her a check over tomorrow to make sure theres nothing bothering her. Hopefully its just because she's grumpy! She is eating fine etc, as you can see there is a pile of corn next to her on the pic and by the time I collected the other eggs, it was all gone. Hopefully I just caught them pic at a funny angle!

Johnn, It is a pleasure to watch your chickens point of view and how your scenery changes with the seasons.

Hi, I am a first time chicken owner. I have three buff Orpington pullets that are six weeks old. I have ordered three additional chicks (two pullets and a cockerel) that will be delivered in July. I am reading everything that I can get my hands on to prepare me for taking care of an enjoying my peeps. However, I have a few questions for those of you who are Orpington experts. The new chicks will be two lavenders and a blue. The cockerel will be lavender. Could you tell me what possible effect his coloring and genes will have on the coloring of my future chicks? Will they be lavender regardless of the hens coloring? See I told you I'm a novice. lol Any and all advice will be appreciated.

Bella is a useless broody, I went up today and she was off her eggs. I went over to her nest and both were pretty much cold. Once I had got there she was out for a further 10-15 mins and then when she went back I got a phone call form my friend so I spoke to them and then went to check on her. I opened the door to find Daisy on her nest (not Bela's fault), so I moved Daisy and Bella was just happily sitting on nothing on the floor. She seemed to have no desire to go back so I had to put her back. She is going to be really, really lucky if she gets anything.

Chicks second day out. Look how angry she was when the phone go too close!

We just had Orpington chicks from our flock hatch in Arkansas and Washington state!

Here are some of the Arkansas chicks we hatched and are keeping. There are a few Buckeyes that also hatched. The Orpingtons are Buff, Black and Self Blue. We also hatched 4 White Orpingtons from Heirloom Orpingtons. With our new Sportsman, we will have more eggs hatching in about 2 weeks. These will all go in our breeding and show pens.

And now the chicks that hatched from our eggs we shipped to Washington state.
The Orpingtons are Buff, Black and Self Blue. So glad I packed them so well and double boxed them. These should be shown this fall and some of the west coast shows. Hoping they do well!
