Good to know. I figure he'll get less friendly. Which is why we are looking for Silkies!

As long as he remains well mannered I'll be happy. I don't want to have to eat or re-home (if even possible in my area of relatively few people) him as I really like the fella.

My friendly orps have always stayed friendly regardless of gender. Hope he stays nice for you!

Beautiful Orpingtons!!! I'm new to BYC and Orpingtons. I have 2 white Orpingtons that are 7-8 weeks old. I'm not totally sure if pullets or roos but they are the cutest funniest chicks! Just white puff balls that love running and trying to fly.

Thank you so much. I hope so too. The pullet isn't nearly as friendly as he is which is odd becaue I have handled all of my chickens since we brought them home. She was friendlier but has become less so in the past week. Not mean or anything. But not too interested in my being around at all! Barry (the cockerel) runs over to me, stepping all over my feet. As soon as I sit on the stump in there, he jumps in my lap for a few minutes before going on his merry way.

Some are just friendlier than others... I've found that it's more vital that the males are friendly. They tend to pass it onto their offspring.

Isn't it funny how they do that? My two blues are ALWAYS together, whereas the splash and black hens (who have no color counterpart) are more independent.

My goats and chickens do that! They're prejudiced lol the black goats with the black goats the white hens with the white hens the tan goats with the tan goats and buff birds with buff birds... it's so odd and happens too often to be a coincidence!
