Here's my blue orpington roo, Gandalf :) He's about 7 or 8 months old and was supposed to be a girl, he was originally named Delilah. He's definitely my favorite, such a sweetheart and he really looks after his girls.

And here is my buff/black orpington girl, Molly. I adopted her from a friend because she was making too much noise for her neighbors, but she's pretty quiet here (unless you disturb her whilst she's laying or bring treats!) She's my best layer, even better than my Welsummers, we've had one a day, every single day, from her since she arrived :D

They are gorgeous! Do you ever hatch eggs from them? Bet they make stunning babies.

I haven't yet, they're my first flock so I'm just getting used to having them at the moment. I'm considering it though, i bet they'd be beautiful! My welsummers are now giving us fertile eggs too, but I'm not sure what a blue orp/welsummer cross would turn out like!

Only one way to find out!

I so want an incubator and to try to start hatching. Don't know what I'd do with all the babies yet. Hmm... I'll think of something! I'm afraid I'll have a lot of mutts running around if I'm not careful.

The only roo I know I have right now is my Buff Orpington. When the girls get old enough to lay eggs, I'll have to actually start making a decision about those things.

I bed a blue orp/welsummer would be pretty! Probably a big dark welsummer?

My Buff orp and her daughter Coco were sharing 3 duck eggs. All 3 hatched yesterday and over night they came under attack from rats that killed two of the babies :(. It's such a shame because if Orp could see she would have taken their eyes out as she is really aggressive when broody. They're left with this little baby now

I love these photos. I am sad to hear of your tragedy. The little duck looks a little lonely in the first pic, but the last one has it smiling away. What wonderful photos and your mamas seem to be sharing well!
