A couple of pics at the show.

Doug's top notch Buff cockerel dominated the field.
He says he hasn't had this nice a year for Buff cockerels since his first year.
And you can see why.

This is what an Orpington should look like. GREAT BIRD!!

My Blue pullet did surprisingly well. She had to beat one of my cockerels and another rather nice Blue hen

my first chickens. I love the Orpingtons, have 4 hens for now, want one more hen. maybe next year a nice rooster and hen. but for now I would just like pretty chickens for eggs lol.

3 blue pullets, about 6 months old, the darker one is smaller than the others and I think she is a month older!

So most of you know my Oprah, she is from hinkjc black orp eggs - she's now almost 7 1/2 months, slow to mature little comb and no eggs of course, but she is built like a truck, or a turkey. You can see from this picture how she towers over the rest of my layers.

Thanks so much for sharing her pic, along with the rest of your perty flock.

This is a very important Blue Orp to any who dare to buy and breed Chocolate Bantams for LF project in the coming future.
She is from BUS. For those who don't know, BUS throws everything under the sun including the kitchen sink. BUS being 11.2 lbs, means this girl has in her genetics to make LF birds. Much easier to let mother nature do it rather then AI.
While I am NOT into the Choc thing using bantams to get the correct color, I know those who do. And one of them reminded me in an email, that this ugly girl has a special purpose in her life. To my friend who just wrote me. She can be yours this coming spring when your passing thru Indy on your way to see your dad. Free ofcourse. I don't want to make money, I just love making great birds. Exactly 2 lbs.

UNICE is being UNICE. Just an update pic. Hard to say how popular the Mottleds will be. I am there into making them.

I am with everyone else on the subject eggs. What are they? lolol
I have 8 eggs from ALL my pullets so far in my bators. They're from my older Black pullets. I had gotten 4 from Bamma's pullets I hatched out Feb 4th. Too cold for now. Now UNICE is inside but she is barely 5 months old. I will be hatching everything out from her. I expect to have some available late next season. I need to make as many as I can. It is not as easy doing this with just one pullet. I am at the mercy of her willingness to lay, and hope she doesn't want to take a break and go broody. But, I will be more then happy to share with ALL BYCers when the time comes and I have plenty to work with.

So here I am with my first Orpingtons, 9 White and 31 Buffs in the bator for the New Year's Eve hatch and I'm wondering already how long before they start laying? They haven't even hatched yet.
