Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

SO I go out to check on everyone and take some over head shots and this is what I've got.....my favorite boy with a swollen shut eye. Looks like they got in a fight. So he's inside now til he heals and I get rid of at least 3 boys. I have waaaaay to many roos!

I took pics of the lav cha-chinger and my split.....

Lav is Mid july hatch

Split is about the same time. Here he is from above. He's gonna be wide, I think. But he's more leggy than I like. Hopefully as he fills out, his legs won't seem so long!

My favorite boy.......

From above. He would not stand still.

Here he is stealing feed from the "babies". They are just shy of two months old. End of Jan 11 hatch.

He is a big boy. I need to weigh him. Ill give him a day or two. he is less than thrilled to be in the bathroom in a dog crate!

My husband seems to think it is unreasonable for him to be in "recovery" in our bathroom. I think it's the perfect place, esp since I want to show this bird. I figure this way he'll get more handling and become more used to seeing people move around and such.

They all will be split for white.

I talked to a local legend Buff breeder via email about this question today, who highly discouraged me from using any cock who has any leg skin other then White. You will get dark skin leakage that will be difficult to get rid of. He said either you take White to White OR make splits with a Buff to White. I am not saying you will not get a White feathered bird. But, maybe fighting the recessive darker or mottled dark and lite skin color. Just a thought from someone who knows more then I.

Your fav boy looks tremendous!! I am sure I am not the only one here who is envious!!

Thanks! Considering some of the lookers you have, I am humbled by your compliment

scbatz33 your boy is very much a contender in any APA Show for BB. He has a great tail and is still young and growing. The two Black cocks I have at that age were no where as nice. And I think your boy has a better tail. Just giving an honest opinion.

Thanks Bill. Yes, the leg color could be a real bear to deal with by bringing in a blue male. Either direction you go you're going to get some odd colored splits the 1st generation.

I have seen some knock out Whites made from a Buff to a White. But then you run up against Buff leakage. It is a double edged sword. I am still going to do some test hatches with my Black/Silver mix till I have my young Buff cockerel who also has the White or Silver gene is ready. I also have a Cuckoo with pearly White skin legs getting close to going into action. I ALSO have that funky Exchequer pullet, who when I take my Cuckoo too should give me some Whites. But, you already have these Blue/Whites. I would say while feed is cheap in the spring around this time of year, TSC is selling $9.99 per bag, load up on the cheap feed and give it a whurl.
