Beth that is the offspring from a pair of SS/BO's that was an accidental hatch from last spring. I seen some here on BYC were trying to make jubilees with that mix. And your about right. I did show this fella's daddy at the Central Indiana Poultry Show as a New Hampshire. He had to go up against the real deal. I am not sure IF in fact the one he lost to was an Akers New Hamp. But that bird was near perfect. But this fella and his sis's can lead me down several paths for other projects besides New Hamps and Jubilees. Red Orpingtons are one I may get. I can also use them to enrich my Buff color in my Buff Orp program. Since the original Buff Orp was a pure Tony Ewert line cock via from Terry Britt, he has the type that has been passed down. You can see a full rounded breast. And 2 of his sis's will be very Orpy type.
The color we are wanting is like this Buff cock I bought this spring.
This is the best I have and just started to get some chicks from him. He is from the very best Buff breeder I ever met Doug Akers.

I have a friend who knows alot about the Buff color. He gave me the thumbs up on that pullet too. I guess this fella and her will have a go at it when she reaches layin age.
Yes projects are fun and a challenge. That makes things fun around here.

Thought I'd join in and post a few pics of my girls.

This is one of the 4 adult hens we bought this spring:

The problem with too-tame birds? They tend to make going and coming out the back door difficult!

I was working on both LF Lav Cochins and JG Lav's. But, came to a hault b/c I lost a few key birds to the project to pred's. Since then my Husband and I have sunk $20,000 into our chicken farm pen's and coops to help avoid drastic loses like that again.

My next project is a big ole secret

I spend all my money on chickens. The most I lost was when I got into poultry, I bought at least $1,500 in Black Copper Marans eggs. This was before I knew that was not a good idea. Since back then BCM's were not accepted into tha APA. And plus unless the offspring lays a dark egg their worthless. I had recieved eggs from SUPPOSEDLY all the best BCM lines. Bev Davis, Wade Jean. Kevin Jean, Presley, and the best and ONLY dark laying pullet came from Ray Valentine. I bred that bird to my best type BCM cockerel which was from Kevin Jean lines. Only had 3 pullets worth keeping. One recently died in this heat. I sold off all the males and decided to use my one and maybe the finest Birchen Marans cock bird I have seen online my Bruno. I had Bruno sired girls in my first year and he is from Betty Jo Aldrich. These Marans bloodlines are from some of the first to hit the states. These Birchen girls actually laid near or around a 5 to 6 on the Marans egg color scale. So Bruno now has just 2 hens. I am still going to try and have some more. ONLY keeping girls this year to take back to Bruno. And what is nice about him, he is a featherless shank bird from the UK lines and he can be used IF I like to my Birchen Orps I made. I love his size and temperment. A total sweety. I have many projects other then Birchens but IF I do them I like to have the correct pattern gene built in. So it is a lets wait and see project. But, incubator space is at a premium. And my projects get put to the back burner. For now I have Lavs & Cuckoos which I am hatching still including my Ameraucanas and Birchen Marans. And ofcourse my standard Orps, Buffs, Blues, and Blacks.

Does he throw dark egg laying Birchens? Bruno's daughters throw about 5 to 6 on the Marans scale.
