I would love to know the title of these books so I can find them at Archive.org.
Galani at cornell free L, type standard bred orpington..it will take you to that book..also type orpington a fowl for our times or by author William cook, cooks book will come up..you cant beleive the number of old books you can get over there for free..one of my favorites is biddys poultry.this woman wrote the most practical book ever written on poultry in a time when men really frowned on that..its a great read about her experiences...I will post the tiltes later on, on my way to work right now..tons and tons..Ive had a blast with them..kindle has a free for PC kindle..

That's what all those petticoats are for!! Orps are an English breed, and it's COLD over there, but that fluff keeps them toasty.
 
Yes it does!, when she was eating they were following her around trying to get under her and she eventually give in and just plonked her self down in the muddy pen :/
 
Hi Everyone, I recently ordered and received The Orpington Fowl books (Dr. Burdett and Dr Batty). I will share part of an email during my correspondence with Dr Batty just in case any of you are willing and interested. If you were to submit photos to me, I'll put them all in a CD, then send them to Dr. Batty for his consideration in the next edition of the book. Proceeds benefit The Poultry Welfare Trust (UK). So...go and dig up some photos so that we can have our Orps represented.
