What is a Buff Sport?

Buff Sports are a cream colored off White bird that came out of 2 Buff colored parents. Somewhere down the line a breeder took a White Orp to a Buff Orp to clean out any dark colored "smut" from his/her Buff Orp line. The White gene is recessive and may lay in a Buff Orp's genetics for several generations. But when the right pair go to breed 1/15 will pop out as this Creamy off colored White. Or when taking a Buff Sport to a White the results are White. Many of my juvie Whites are from this White Orp cock and a Buff Sport. The girl on the right is a Buff Sport.

A white that came out of a buff line.

Interesting. I need to read up on how the white works. What was in the Buff line to begin with...a white (obvious, dumb question, I know)? How is the white used as an advantage in a Buff line? Or any other variety when it is added? Just curious. I already have my hands full.

Cool! Interesting.

Bill,
You should definately pursue to establish that color. Good luck.
Actually he is from my breeding a Buff Sport cock to a Black Mottled hen. Was trying to pull something White outta that combo. Only made a bunch of Orange spangled birds. I have several others. I may use this one cockerel to Black to make some more Blacks that have some of the Exhibition traits that many find in Buff Orps that makes them more appealing.

Here are two more varieties I could do that are already a done deal IF I wanted too.
HAROLD is my Brown Red. When taking him to Black he makes more visually seen Brown Red boys, when the offspring is a female the trait is not visually seen but still maybe present. So, IF I wanted to make what is called Lemon Blues, I need to take HAROLD or his boy here to a Black or Blue looking for females to breed these boys back too.
Lemon Blue who does not have good type and will most likely be culled

I also have many good size Cuckoos to use.
One more nice Cuckoo cockerel
