Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

How old are they ? When did you worm them last ? Wazine does not count ! You need to use Safeguard 10% liquid Goat Wormer at 1 TEASPOON per gal of water for 3 days. New solution every day, repeat in 10 days.

Are they getting out to eat grass and bugs ? Try adding 1/4 cup of Calf Manna , per bird , per day, to their feed. What are the protein and fat %s of your feed ? Lastly, are these birds hatchery birds ? Some never fatten due to the leghorn blood that was added.

Photos would be helpful.

They range from 6-8 month. My 6 months is heavier and broader than my 8 month old. They are not hatchery birds. They free range in my yard so the do eat grass and bugs. Never worm them before.

Do you know if Sheep Drench will work as well?

Please do NOT use Sheep drench on your birds. That is ivermectin, and is very hard to dose. It also does not get many of the worms that the Safeguard will. Safeguard 10% Goat wormer is available at TSC.

Are the 6 mos and 8 mos old birds from the same breeder ? If not, it's genetics. Not all Orps are the same size. Try worming them and feeding some Calf Manna. About a Tablespoon a day for that size birds.

I have used Ivomec wormers for years and it's good stuff. I do rotate wormers. I have never used the Ivomec sheep drench, but I would say it might be OK. Anytime I use something new, I worm one bird, my worst one and test it. That way if it is bad you just lose one. I use Valbenzen to get tapes. My next trip to TSC I want to get the Safeguard and try it. I like Ivomec for the lice and mite killer.

Honestly I have used Ivemectin and Valbenzen (tape worms) for many many years. I have never had a problem with either. But, you know what they say to each his own. As to safe guard goat wormer it is good in combination to worm dogs, is what I use it for. VIVI

I was would like to know, if you don't mind, how do you calculate the dosage with the Ivomec? I have read so many different things and just want to make sure I am giving them enough but not too much. I gave mine .5 cc last time. Is this low or high? I have all LF but the Orps of course are the largest. Thanks.

I also use the Valbezen.
