Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Well.. guess I am learning... breeding chickens isn't quite like breeding AKC dogs... Soo in my opinion... I reckon the best thing is to just be honest with people about your birds and well inform them of exactly what you have done before selling them. That way if they have an unexpected color pop up.. they will know WHY it happened... You as the buyer will have to decide whether to take the risk and responsibility of informing the new buyers of your chicks/eggs or not buy from that seller. It will be up to you.

I just want you guys to know.. I love my chickens and I am honest about them :).
We know that Renie..you have been honest and even point things out that you arnt sure about.. chickens have something like 42 chomosomes correct me on that number..compared to the human 23..but thats crazy..so you have to be careful what you cross .and how you cull.....I have lot to learn too. as well many illnesses can crop up..hereditary bone weakness ect...so many things to consider..

hahaha Mis-spelling Doug's last name won't build you any bridges either.
Here is a bird I got from him this weekend for "FREE". No bridge burned there. Doug's friend Joyce asked me for one of my Buff cockerels this past weekend. Guess what? I am giving her a "FREE" Buff cockerel. WHY? Because we're friends. This is what friends do for each other. Don as well does this for folks who he respects and like to be friends with.

You should be that nice to everyone..you wernt that nice to me..too bad too..Im pretty good conditioner..and Im showing even if santa clause shows up.

every toenail and feather sparkles when I show up and they smell like a million bucks too..I may not always have the best bird..but I sure have the best time..

Lynn I have to give you the credit for me getting to know Alan. It was when you said you had Alan's Whites last spring is why I talked to him. Now Alan is a very good friend. While he said he would not share his Whites with anyone, even his best friends, he has shared his knowledge. And I would do anything for the man. IF he needed a Buff cockerel, it would be packed up and shipped out today if he asked.
So, thank you Lynn for just being who you are. You have made a big difference in how I breed my birds. And indirectly the way I mentioned I breed my birds is a result of me getting to know you better.

Alan crosses varieties. Harry took a Cecil Moore Black hen that he bought which came from Superior Farms and bred it to an Ammarell WHITE cock. Alan told me Harry is doing very well with his breeding program.
Saying I am "trolling" when by no definition of that term I am doing, saying I have "condescending attitude" and any other name you want to label me as, may make you feel better. All I am doing is sharing how I and a few of the better Orp breeders in the USA build their birds is all I am doing. Trust me, many here are very impressed with your birds and it is a fact you bred Silkies for many years & that you did well with them is not going to change how I breed my birds. I am not breeding Silkies.
I am breeding Buffs like folks like Doug breed them.
Doug has only bred birds for about a dozen years. Jack has taught Doug how to build birds and WIN MAJOR APA SHOWS.
Pics I take will illustrate more then just size. You seem to be dwelling on the fact I breed for size. But, you do not talk about the width in the rear of my Buffs. You do not consider the width the heads in my birds, the correct color, and the thickness of the bones. These are traits I want to build into my Blacks. I could care less about what color genes are at play in my birds. And neither does Harry, Alan and I know for a fact that other EXHIBITION breeders of other breeds do it as well.
This is an example of what I just mentioned. Doug bred this birds 3 years ago. I paid $20 for him at the Greenville Ohio Show in 2011. He is the ONLY Buff cock I used last year. I am very happy with what he produces. MAYBE in a dozen years of having Orps I can have many more birds like Doug's, or ALan's, or Harry's by following what they say and learning from folks who WIN APA SHOWS.

Perhaps these well known breeders would like to speak for themselves rather than being quoted out of context quite so often. We'd all love to hear from them. I did not bring up the size issue about your birds. I merely made the comment that 2 lbs over the weight limit is a DQ with anyone's birds. I bred rather nice Silver Laced Wyandotte LF years ago from Herb Holtz stock. Overweight was starting to be an issue then, and it has gotten out of hand now. Where does the blame / credit for this lie? With the breeders, or with the ultimate arbitrators, the judges ? If one part of the SOP is ignored, the rest will soon follow, and have no point in existing. Something needs to be done, one way, or another.

This. is one of my very special young Jubilee hens...if I could I would bring her in the house...she is the most loving chicken I've ever owned. And of course I had to name her Princess!

Bill, there was both a compliment and an insult tucked into all that ..Well that whole thing never should have escalated into what it did..I think you mis read that..you origionally told me a story about imogene, and some black orps..I have no idea who bred the white orps origionally..I was talking about the blacks..Hey they win championships, so if allen doesnt want to be associated with them, thats fine..kinda strange , but fine.....I was talking about 2 things at once, that is probably why you were confused..those white orps were hatched for a 12 year old boy as a starter show flock to play with..I think you might remember that..there was one very nice one there..very suprising..but due to all of the fighting and hooplah..gone now..very sad..these people had a lot of money to spend on birds..they never want to see another orpington again as long as they live..nor dt to talk to any orpington people..very sad..they are filling those empty pens that his daddy built for black auracauna coming next spring..and she told me im not to say any more than that..

I can not imagine why they would not want to join us in this wonderful conversation.
Maybe you will be the one who makes the APA listen to you and start DQ'ing for size. UNTIL then I am breeding my birds the way I said.
Again, no comment on tail width, or head size, thickness of bones or perfectly level flat back.
You still dwell on size. And I guess this means you can not use Monty. He is 14 lbs. Pack him up and give him to Don. He will give him a good home since you will not want to promote size.
