This fella has one wing I do not like. But he has ALOT of size which I would like to see in ALL of my Orps. After talking to two of our USA premier Orpington breeders, both basically say "do not breed birds with bad wings unless you are ready to cull hard".
So MAYBE a short hatch with this guy.


This is the younger boy. He has zero problems & will most likely be used with a couple of my best Whites, among other possible varieties


I hatched out 19 Buffs from just one pair. And have 11 cockerels to choose from. I will only keep 3 at most. And cull the rest.

HAROLD's son and only Blue that I will use. He carries the Brown/Red gene. And has a dusting of it showing in his wings. I have one more younger cockerel who looks like a real nice Lemon Blue



As much as I like with this boy, there is the wing thing again. With STORK and a few others looking good, I may only hatch out a dozen with this boy to see what may pop out. And hopefully not have these wings

Not too crazy about that Cuckoo on Rare Breed auctions. And he is gettin $360 with multiple bidders. Yikes!!

You will get blacks for sure but if your white is hiding cuckoo or blue you will get that color also. Chances are the whites are recessive so you will not get any whites only if the white is dominate or the black is carrying/split recessive white. You may get other colors but usually if they are carrying recessive genes(like lavender) or hidden by the white. I have gotten a dun from breeding white to black in Ameraucanas already. Try the chicken calculator or PM Henk69 because he is a real genetic guru here.

Good morning all.

I've got a question...

One of my pullets came up sick this morning. She was kind of rumpled feathers & lethargic last night, but this morning she won't wake up and when I force her awake she can't stand up, she just plops back down and closes her eyes I tried to give her some water, but she wouldn't take it.

No bloody poop either.

Anyone have any suggestions? I can treat cocci...but beyond that, I'm pretty much stumped.

Hi everybody! Just found this thread and am so enjoying looking at all of your beautiful birds! We have only had our orps (bantams) for a short bit, but they are quickly becoming a favorite. We currently have 2 blue roos, 3 blue pullets and 2 black pullets. We are hoping to get some of them in the shows this spring.

Here are some of my babies. Would love to know what you think of them!
