Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

She's not laying, she's only 10 weeks old.
She's in her own tub in the garage under a heat lamp.
She started acting lethargic last night before I put them in the coop.
She has no signs of lice or mites, plus they get sprayed with flock protector weekly.
She has not lost any noticeable amount of weight. Still feels heavy when you pick her up.
There's nothing in the coop, and getting into the coop is 100% impossible at night after I lock them up.

More information:

They are all still on medicated chick start and grow feed, so I don't think it's cocci...they actually had it before, complete with bloody diarrhea, but it cleared after a week on sulmet.

I didn't post any other information because I don't HAVE any other information...she's not standing, puffed up, and sleeping all the time. The husband wants to cull her, and I don't know what else to do to save her...

I don't understand why my freaking birds keep getting sick. I told my friend how often I clean my coops and what I do with my birds and she laughed, told me that her hens are lucky if they get their coop cleaned monthly...but still, my birds are the ones that keep getting sick...even though I do everything in my power to keep them healthy.

I hope others try to help, since I am not experieced. But, to keep at least sustainable nutrition in her, by Nutri-Cal. It comes in a tube. It is for puppies or finicky eaters. You can get it at a pet store. They keep it in stock. Looks like a wide toothpaste tube. I don't know her size, but 1/2 in of it. It is essentially vitamins and minerals. You'll probably have to force feed. The trick is, she is in danger if she's not drinking. I will PM thedragonlady and see if she can respond. She's got 50 yrs under her belt. I'll also send her a private email.

Good morning all.

I've got a question...

One of my pullets came up sick this morning. She was kind of rumpled feathers & lethargic last night, but this morning she won't wake up and when I force her awake she can't stand up, she just plops back down and closes her eyes :( I tried to give her some water, but she wouldn't take it.

No bloody poop either.

Anyone have any suggestions? I can treat cocci...but beyond that, I'm pretty much stumped.
I use Baytril. A 1/2cc in the muscle. Doesn't sould good. I have had some luck with this Baytril on sick birds. You will have to get it at the vets. It comes in 100cc bottle. Just get 2 or 3 cc.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, as per the other post, I don't want to get anyone in trouble or start any drama by discussing my sick Bella on this thread.

I really appreciate all of the input, if anyone has any other suggestions, could you please PM them to me. I'm willing to try pretty much anything at this point.

Here's a picture of my Lovely Poop Chicken, who recently [3 days ago] laid her very first egg! She's officially laying. We've had a fresh egg every day from her and they are just amazing. My husband kept pointing out how thick the shells were and how golden the yolks were and how BIG the egg itself was...he said that my hens are definitely well fed, that he could tell just by the egg...whether it's true or not, it felt good to have reassurance that I'm doing something right with those birds.

Here she is enjoying the fall leaves. She will walk around the garden scratching through the leaves all day, she doesn't care about anything except what's underneath the leaves.

She's really filled out in the past month, and I envisioned that her and her sister, Popcorn would look the same and even worried that I wouldn't be able to tell them apart...but Poop Chicken has a much more golden neck while her sister is all one mottled peachy color. She's beefed up too. Finally looking like a real hen!

And here is her very first egg!!

Love the 2nd pic. Beautiful and rustic!
Thanks :), if you look at the ice bella is standing on in the 1st pic, well anyways, her brother started chasing me, not sure if he thaught i had a treat or if he was trying to attack, but anyways he ran at me and slipped on it and fell over, and i think he felt stupid because he got up and ran away!!

Very nice APA show in Connorsville this weekend. 2 day shw. Grand Champ will be announced tomorrow.
Congrats to Doug Akers on his win in Champ English with an Australorp cockerel & Champ American with a White Rock.

Bad day to be a White Orp. This one was not DQ'd but was told he has weak legs. That means

And he was the BV

Congrats to Duane Shroeder on his BV for the part UK part APA 6 month old Black pullet.

Oh almost forgot to show a pic of my Cuckoo
Had several folks come up and ask about him.
Had to weigh him since Doug had asked.

Wild Bill, good pics!! Dougs hen has won her fair share, she is hard to get around. When it comes to getting birds ready, Doug Akers is one of the best.

Jack Patterson was there and he said the better Australorp cockerel was left at home. Jack denies it but Doug said Jack taught him everything about raising, breeding and showing birds. For those who do not know about Jack, he is an old "Stringman" from 20 to 30 years ago. At one time Jack and his dad would haul around 800 to 900 birds to shows
