Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

The red in the neck is leakage all birds have either the gold gene or the silver gene, and though blue typically carry the silver gene, if they have been crossed to blacks (that aren't from a blue line) then they can carry the red gene instead which is what you are seeing. I personally wouldn't use him for breeding.

Also, Mr. Splash is growing in red feathers on his neck?! I thought splash was 2 blue genes, and that there wasn't any red in there? Is he worth keeping?

He's such a sweet boy, but I haven't seen any other splashes with the red neck

Here is a full body shot with feet about 2/3 days old

The wing feathers look white but the legs look lavender. Will be interesting to see what some of the experts say.

Thanks for the information. I'm trying to figure out genetics, and it's a lot to take in for someone with 0 background in it.

It's a shame, because he's such a friendly guy...completely nice to the girls, friendly to people and generally a very cuddly bird.

I'm got a black rooster who's still very young, hopefully he's got better coloring...

My pics are not very good but here's some of my young blues. They are 5-6 months if I remember correctly. I have one other young black male but didn't get a good pic of him.

These are the older 2 about 6 months

This is 2 of the younger ones 5 months pretty sure
