Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

I know I say this all the time but I am serious now, Bella is on her last straw. Look what she did to poor Babs for no reason, and also caused Babs to drop two places in the pecking order:

Rip..my lemon cuckoo rooster popcorn....
coyote attack :( what a way to start the day...

Oh... I'm so Sorry!!! It has been a terrible few years with predators..

Johnn you may want to isolate Babs for a few days. Chickens tend to peck at blood. So, it may have started with Bella, but the others may also be adding to hurt on the wound.
I would think Bella would eventually be satisfied with her position in the peckin order and mellow out as she gets older.

Vickie and I have joked about this bird since he arrived here. This is the most friendly bird we have ever owned. I called last week and told Vickie how he kept stealing my wire ties out of my hand! EVERYONE ELSE WERE MINDING THEIR OWN BUSINESS. NOT JUNIOR! Have thought about a leash for him, as he would be great for demonstrations at schools etc. Many times we have almost stepped on him, as he is always under our feet.

A pullet did grab one of my wire ties that day, looked it over, dropped it and walked away. Junior just kept taking another, looked it over and dropped it to the ground. Then grabbed another. He was the first to inspect the new buckets and learn to drink from them. ..... while we were still installing the buckets!

Vickie is a great breeder and conditioner. She has done a great job with her new line of Orpingtons and should be commended for it!

even if Junior is a pest at times!

when we show him, he will probably turn the pages of the SOP for the judges!

Aw Jim ! Now you've gone and embarassed Junior. He's hiding his head . Lets see the rest of him !

It takes two to make a fight. Now Babs knows Bella is her boss. This looks much worse than it is, I'm sure.

I can even video it, Babs doesn't fight back, Bella just walks past and turns for Babs and she just sits and takes it, I think she does it because she copys her mother a lot.

Hard to beleive Jim would have a English bird. He sure said the English birds was screwing up the US orps. Now he got some English blood. Glory be!!
Jim seems quite happy with Junior who is not sired by an extreme English Cock bird , as he has size, type , and great color. His mother is one of the nice pullets I hatched from Jim's eggs. Nice to meet someone with an open mind.

His color looks weird, Im guessing he only has one barring gene. Also wouldnt mind seeing a deeper breast on him.

Hey Jon I was just on the "lets talk Cuckoo Marans" thread. A very nice lady (Nicol) called the Dickerson Marans cock that I got at Crossraods, the one you with with me when he flagged us over is a Silver Cuckoo. That sorta makes sense. Harry said he thought he was a Silver. I wanted the Silver gene to use with some White Orps. Thought I would share this with you. Knowledge is Good!

Dickerson cock I got while with ya at Crossroads and that is his daughter right of him
