My little roo will 'bow up' at the roos in other pens if they do it first, but he's so busy watching his hens that unless provoked he just minds his own business.Isn't it funny how our lives revolve around our chickens Johnn? lol.
I am glad to hear good things about the bantams. Mine are Chocolate Orps as well. They are friendly to people, I guess I was a bit shocked when at such a young age they were trying to fight the older bigger cockerels. Tough little things! One of the many reasons I breed Orps is the fact that they are so mellow. When I suddenly see these little fighters crowing and wanting to fight, I was shocked, lol. Anyway, thank you all for your words of advice and knowledge, I feel much better now.
Thanks for sharing this. It's the first up close pic of choc cuckoo I've seen. I think your right, I would say boy as well. Very nice!
Here is my LF Chocolate Cuckoo chick at 4 weeks. So sweet! He/She dad was a Chocolate and his mom was a Cuckoo. I think it's a Cockerel if I had to guess.
And then here's my Cuckoo hen from Marc....she's a dollface....so sweet! Thus...her name "Dolly".She's approximately 3 months old.
I love the cuckoos a lot....there's so many ways that you can breed them....with all the solid colors. I really like the chocolate cuckoo though. I've been wanting cuckoo for a long time and I finally have them! Just love this hen!
I know they are eating me out of house and home though....even in the extreme heat here in Texas....it doesn't stop them from eating....LOL I'm going through 50 lb. sack of layer and a 50 lb. sack of chick feed each day for about 150-200 birds!
Most of the time I've seen it due to a B vitamin deficiency after treatment with Corid, or Amprolium. Poly Vi Sol without iron will usually help.Does anyone know what causes young birds to get wry neck?
