everry picture a treat..and funny john!!
What breed is that chick ? Glad you're back Johnn !Well, how do I start this post off! I'm not sure weather its a good or a bad thing but either way, the OLD Bella is back. She got into a fight yesterday, challenged a hen yesterday and then started walking around with her head above the top hens hoping they would be scared of her! I must admit, I have missed that Bella. Sadly I dont have any pics as I wasn't expecting it, but I'm sure she will do it more! She is still looking after her mama's rejects and loves them! Oh and yes, she still hates me for treating her with anti biotics! The swelling from her leg has gone down but the two lumps are still there but aren't causing any pain, so I'm not fussed. I'm going to get her a anti swelling cream to see if that makes a difference.
Bella's mother... WHere do I start? Well thanks to me she isnt broody anymore :/. The egg I swapped over with Daisy wasn't fertile she she left the eggs and is now going into a moult. I feel bad fr swapping the eggs over as the egg I took away and give to Daisy hatched today! But I don't feel that bad as she has already been a mother this year and Daisy hasn't been a mother at all. I'm sure she is getting scaly leg, So I picked her up and put a spot-on on her. Once I put her down, my dog started sniffing her and she got so angry, I had to take him away as she looked like she was going to attack him! She's such a crazy woman. I can't wait for her to finish her moult as she will get lovely golden feathers!
Now Daisy. I really under estimated her, she is a great broody! She wiped the floor with Bella's mother! Her eggs aren't due to hatch until tomorrow, but yesterday when she got off there was a chick peeping and pecking inside, then later on a pip and then today a chick! I think her other egg might hatch, it isn't due until tomorrow, so theres still time. I think i could hear faint pecking when I put my ear to it and I'm sure it moved! I must admit, Daisy has been a bit of a crazy broody when it comes to the other hens, she just chases them around full belt with her wings out!
This is just typical Daisy! All I had to do was give her a bowl off food and she didn't give a crap about me looking under her anymore!
Hope yous have enjoyed the post, it took me ages to type and upload pics!
Yes...enjoy the Orps saga immensely!!What breed is that chick ? Glad you're back Johnn !
Great pics John! If you can get your hands on Nustock mixed with a little Vaseline works great for scaly leg mites.Well, how do I start this post off! John - I missed you and Bella. Really good stories. My daughter loves the adventures of "Bella".
Debbie
Thanks to both of you!So nice to see to see your beautiful photos, and read about the adventures of your birds again, Johnn! Oh, the baby is adorable!!
God is at work Johnn. I'll bet that's a pullet. Now, to get a nice Buff Orp cockerel.............I love this little chick more than I have loved any other chicks. It just sits on my hand! Daisy's other egg still hasn't shown any sign of hatching, so tomorrow I will move daisy to the floor so her and the chick can eat and drink and I will put the eggs down too and let her decide what happens. I will only leave her in the nest if the chick starts hatching.
