I have a couple of blue orp pullets that I bought locally....they have dark, almost black combs? I can snap a couple pics tomorrow, but is that normal, a defect, or do you think they might be mixed with some other breed?

(I also posted the below pic in the what breed or gender section) any idea on hen or roo? Hatched beginning of August, middle bird is the one in question

They will probaly redden up as they mature. I had the most beautiful BBS , black, pullet with a black face. She was the most awkward chick and then WOW!

I believe they call that 'gypsy faced'? I had some blacks like that and they did redden up nice
