Why does my biggest best quality hen that I was going to breed special for hatchlings have to be the egg eater!

Seclude her before she teachs the others, and fill a nest full of golfballs in a dog kennel. Lock her in and snatch her eggs as soon as she lays them. Also give her extra protein. Test her with a cheap egg every now and then. Throw her eggs in a bator and let a Roo visit weekly. If she does not stop then at least you have some babies.

Yes.. I may have to. She had that thing gone in 20seconds! I found one when we culled last summer but it started again. I have a rabbit hutch we were putting oe hen in at a time and observing with an already pecked egg (but not open) . I have wooden eggs but she never went for it. I pray I have no more. I only have 14 hens total and don;t want to have to breed in hatchery buffs.

Thanks for the advice. Someone said onions in the nest works too. But I only have big ones ATM.

I did that with wooden eggs, but my kids were putting scratch in the nesting boxes and I did not know it. Now they peck at everything. but must won't eat the eggs. *sigh* If it keeps up I will try it. hopefully its just the one but just mad that it was her :(
